Leeds Beckett University – Leeds School of Arts

The Challenge

Leeds Beckett University had invested in a multi-million-pound new School of Arts building and wanted a film that would do more than showcase its facilities. The brief was to create something that would speak directly to prospective art students — not just an information piece, but a work that reflected creativity, ambition, and identity.

Our Approach

From the outset, the University team and Story worked collaboratively:

  • Brainstorming workshops shaped the creative concept, with ideas flowing from both sides.
  • We mapped out how each shot would connect seamlessly, ensuring the narrative felt fluid and immersive.
  • Post-production focused on sharp, layered editing that balanced complexity with simplicity, bringing clarity and flow to the final piece.

The result was not a conventional campus film, but a visually striking and poetic showcase that wove together the building’s story with an artistic sensibility designed to resonate with its audience.

The Outcome

The finished film blended cinematic visuals with a creative spoken-word layer, aligning with the ethos of the School of Arts and positioning Leeds Beckett as a place where students could see their own creative identity reflected.

Client Feedback

“Our Vice Chancellor actually pulled that film out as one of the best things he’d ever seen created at the University. He said we should definitely engage with that agency more often.”

The Impact

  • The film was recognised at the highest level within the University as a standout piece of communications.
  • It achieved the goal of promoting the new School of Arts in a way that appealed directly to creative students.
  • It provided a suite of social media content that was used and remixed throughout the launch campaign ensuring engagement beyond the initial film.
